Security is one of the most fundamental human needs. The term security has long been associated with military activities; thus, military security was considered the most fundamental aspect of national security. Today, despite the expansion of security dimensions and the creation of new considerations, military security retains its importance and priority in governments. The purpose of this research is to analyze military security in Ferdowsi's Shahnameh. Accordingly, this article, based on library resources, a descriptive-analytical method, and analysis of the themes of Shahnameh's verses, examines the factors influencing military security in Ferdowsi's Shahnameh. The results indicate that Ferdowsi, in this unparalleled work with its rich, multifaceted, and timeless content, narrates the security outlook of his society in various dimensions, especially military, in such a way that in different periods, one can decode the hidden concepts in it according to their own talent and insight and use it in accordance with the times. Based on the ancient perspective on security and the occurrence of many military conflicts, war has been the most significant and ancient threat against the security of individuals and society; thus, in the governments of Shahnameh, military security held a special place. Ferdowsi refers to five factors influencing military security, including strong defensive capability, efficient human resources, intelligence oversight and security tactics, appropriate military budget allocation, and peace-oriented policies. Therefore, the just kings and wise heroes of Shahnameh strived to create and maintain military security for the country through various tactics and by providing suitable conditions.
