Abstract
The alignment between personality and job role is a critical topic in human resource management literature. This issue holds particular significance in intelligence and security organizations, especially in operational sectors, due to the nature of their missions and the associated psychological sensitivities. Despite the critical nature of security roles, the selection and appointment processes in security organizations are often based on criteria such as service history, operational skills, and practical experience, while the psychological fit of individuals with job requirements is overlooked. This oversight can lead to diminished performance, organizational conflicts, increased errors in missions, and psychological burnout among personnel. The present study aims to elucidate the personality profile of operational personnel in a security organization and examine the impact of personality traits on their job performance. The study utilized the NEO Five-Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI) to assess the five major personality factors neuroticism, extraversion, openness to experience, agreeableness, and conscientiousness. The statistical population consisted of 136 operational personnel from a security organization, sampled comprehensively. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and exploratory factor analysis (EFA). The results indicated that the majority of individuals exhibited above-average levels of neuroticism and predominantly displayed conservative personalities with a tendency to avoid teamwork. These traits were found to have a direct correlation with the quality of their job performance. These findings suggest that incorporating psychological frameworks into the design of selection, training, and evaluation mechanisms for security personnel can enhance job performance and contribute to organizational security stability.
